When pre-planning a funeral, one of the merchandise items that you most likely will need to choose is an outer burial container.
An outer burial container is what the casket goes into at the cemetery. Most cemeteries require at least the minimum concrete box. (Please note: an outer burial container is not required by state or federal law, the check with your local cemetery of their requirements) The purpose of the concrete box is to keep the weight of the earth off of the casket so there is no sinkage above ground later.
A vault is different and has the capability of keeping the casket and the contents inside dry and protected. To some people it matters a great deal that nothing is able to enter the casket.
