An obituary is a lifestory of a person and should reflect their life, family, hobbies, and accomplishments. It is very hard to sum up a person's life with a short obituary, but there are ways to highlight it in a personal way. There are basic features and elements of an obituary that are standard. Below is an example of John Doe.

OBITUARY

(FIRST PARAGRAPH) The first few lines of an obituary needs to list the name of the deceased, where they are from, their age, when they died and where, date of birth, place of birth, and parents names.

He liked taking long walks, fishing, hunting, and dearly loved his grandchildren.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY

SURVIVING FAMILY (remember you can list people by name or number, ie 3 grandchildren, brothers, sisters etc. because some newspapers charge per word)
